So it ends!


 It's 20 years since we purchased the amazing Kaywana Hall and 15 years since we started running it as a B & B. Now it ends and we slip into gentle retirement.

Many of our lovely guests asked if they could stay in touch and so we decided to start a form of travel blog, light hearted, truthful and hopefully it might make you smile.

I will also be adding some posts with the title "Points Mean Prizes" I consider myself a canny traveller and spend many an hour looking for the best deal but also I have become a bit of an expert on the Avios scheme, hotel loyalty programs and credit card benefits. so would enjoy giving those of you who are interested the low down.

But lets not get ahead of myself. Firstly we are off to Tenerife, via London which gives me a chance to introduce you to some of my favourite London hotels.

The Art'otel Shoreditch.

  Recently opened this is quite the building. Situated just off Old Street Roundabout, 5 minutes from the underground station and a fast 10 minute walk to Liverpool street where you can pick up the Elizabeth line. In the heart of trendy Shoreditch there are many eating spots within a few minutes and some of them are pretty amazing. I had this on my list to try and when two nights popped up on Travelzoo at £318 including breakfast for 2 nights I grabbed it. With Travelzoo its prepayment and no cancellation but worth the risk.  You can find Travelzoo at  https://www.travelzoo.com/uk/   I have found some pretty good deals here, but do your research and always check the hotel's website. It's currently free but I believe it's going to become a subscription service next year.  The cheapest B & B rate for January is around £230 a night on the hotel's website; I still think this represents good value.
